AXA needed to build robust. flexible systems that allowed
them to integrate the roles, rewards and
contributions of the people in their different businesses.
Oakwood provided fast and leading edge automated role
evaluation and profiling software that covered all their
people. This also led into competency profiling and personal
development in line with the AXA values.
AXA then deployed Oakwood’s on-line performance Management and
360° assessment tool across the whole UK Operation. This
allows people to be profiled against the competency profile
for their role, identifies development gaps and suggests
relevant learning solutions to help build on-line
Personal Development Plans. This is accompanied by appraisal
tools, which enable managers and staff to set objectives and
conduct appraisal over the intranet. The whole appraisal and
assessment process is automated (together with automated
progress chasing) allowing the HR function to
monitor how well performance management is being implemented
across the organisation.
AXA Insurance UK has 4,500 employees.

Insurance |
As a niche player in the Insurance market Ecclesiastical’s
challenge was to use the flexibility and unique skills of
their people to distinguish them from the larger businesses.
Oakwood helped them to drive forward culture change and
performance/reward management. This was backed up by a fully
integrated range of Oakwood tools from role profiling through
360° feedback and competency management.
EIG have measured the impact of the HR strategy that Oakwood
has helped to implement. There has been a significant positive
shift in perceptions on all aspects of grading, performance
and
development. 89% of staff report that they now have a clear
understanding of the competencies for their role and how they
are used, and this from a population who had not heard of the
concept 4 years ago. Oakwood have helped EIG make huge strides
forward in implementing leading edge HR practices.

3i are a high profile investment business with a strong
brand. Oakwood have helped to implement on-line 360° feedback
for their investment management community in a culture that
has had no feedback experience. The UK Investment team were
the first to participate and their reactions were universally
positive. The aim is to roll-out the product globally
following the example of our
implementation for AXA Investment Managers who have been
running a global solution of the same kind for three years.
That implementation, based in Paris, is used all over the
world in French and English.
